Learning to hook plaid

Here's Jyl teaching Pam and I how to hook a plaid design. Tommorow is
a big day- First day of the convention. We are finally registered and
got a cool goodie bag. The pottery mint julep cup is fantastic. We
just planned our trip to Pleasant Hill Shaker Village on Friday. Had a
big night at the Clarksville Super Walmart.

We've arrived

Pam and I have arrived at Jyl's house/shop in Indiana. It was a long
drive today through 4 states. 700 plus miles is to long to travel. We
have finally poured our wine.
This is hooker heaven. The shop is in the lower level-I know where I'm
sleeping tonight! Check out her website www.cathouserugs.com
There's even a couple of cats here. This is a photo of Dora, the
friendliest three-legged cat ever!
We will be helping her load up the shop to take to Louisville and the
bienniel.

On the road

Well it's been quite a day. We left Manchester about 3, and have
finally settled into a Comfort Inn in Hamden, Pennsylvania. We are
rechecking maps- iPhones only work when one can get a good signal. So
much for technology.
350 miles and way too many more to go.... I can't wait to get to
Louisville and have a mint julep!!

WMWM meeting

We had great meeting today! It was Pam's first official meeting as president. After a short business meeting-more on that later- we were treated to a lecture about the rules of composition and design by Peg Anderson. We all learned lots, and are now "formally trained". Our next meeting will be Saturday,October 17th location TBA.

Hooking at Carol's House

Some of our members recently got together at Carol's house. One of our members, Diane, has her rug featured in this year's "Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs XIX" We were lucky to see the rug up and admire her skill and technique. Carol treated us to cheesecake-we got some hooking done, too. Our guild is having our first meeting with President Pam this Saturday in Loudon, NH. We are having a speaker share her knowledge of elements of good design. There will be hand outs available, and I will ask if I can post/share on this site.

My first attempt at blogging

Welcome to the White Mountain Woolen Magic blog. I thought this would be a great idea for our rug hooking guild to share photos and ideas between meetings. Who knows? we just might get a few more members....

WMWM is a great group of rug hookers from New Hampshire. We have our next scheduled meeting on Septemner 12th at the Loudon, NH Library.

I would love to post photos of our current rug hooking projects. This rug is "Zuma", my sister's Rhodesian Ridgeback Hound. Hooked in 3 and 4 backed with ultrasuede on stretcher bars.
