Fall Hooking!

Hello Rug Hookers!,
It's been a fun filled fall for the White Mountain Woolen Magic members. Our October 26th hook in was a success. We hosted hookers from all the New England States. The day began within coffee, tea and plenty of homemade treats.  Door prizes were given through out the day, and the grand prize was a $50.00 gift certificate to the Dorr Wool store.

Every registered hooker was gifted a beautifully hooked pumpkin pin by Diane L. She was a vendor along with Pam B and Joan W. There was so much beautiful, hand dyed wool to choose from!

A delicious lunch of chili, chicken soup  and sandwiches with warm apple crisp and ice cream for dessert was provided by the St Paul's Church Ladies. We also collected cash and non perishable food items for the food pantry.

Many attendees shared finished rugs for our display. We had so many beautiful rugs that we filled the space and overflowed into the church sanctuary. The rugs were even more spectacular with the light reflecting through the stained glass windows.

Our guild gained a few new members and a couple of new hookers!

Our November event was the NE Fiber Fest. Two car loads of members and fiber loving friends drove to West Springfield Mass for our third year visiting the show. There are hundreds of vendors selling everything from raw wool and fiber to recycled silk sari "yarn". We were able to see silk worm cocoons spun into yarn and try needle felting, spinning and tatting.

There are always new techniques to try and lots of beautiful yarns and wools to purchase. Oh yeah, and the pumpkin bisque and lamb chili are always a good thing.

We are busy getting ready for our December meeting. Our annual holiday pot luck lunch and Yankee swap will end our year with fun and friendship.

If you would like to keep up on our activities on a more frequent basis, please follow us on Facebook. You can see lots of photos and interact with others hookers.

Welcome Back!!  It's been way to long since I have updated the blog. My New Year's resolution was to be attentive to the guild's on line activities.....well starting in October isn't that bad.....

We have had a busy year hooking all over the state. Our September meeting (minutes below) was a flurry of collecting rugs for the Deerfield Fair Display and hooking our name tags. We will finish the tags at the October meeting.

More photos and news to follow...also trying to get a facebook page up and going
Happy Hooking,
Lynda
